ABOUT MILLE
From his first rally at the age of 16 to becoming FIA Junior WRC Champion just four years later, Mille Johansson has quickly established himself as one of Sweden’s most promising young rally drivers.
Born in Katrineholm, Sweden, in 2005, Mille developed a passion for motorsport at an early age. He began competing in karting at the age of 11 before moving into formula racing in the Aquila Formula 1000 series, where he achieved several podium finishes and his first race victory.
But rallying had always been the goal. Already at the age of 11, Mille had decided that he wanted to become a rally driver as soon as he was old enough to compete.
That opportunity came in 2021, when he made his debut in Swedish youth rallying at the age of 16. Driving a Volkswagen Polo, Mille immediately showed his potential with podium finishes and victories throughout his first season.
THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNEY
For 2022, Mille took an ambitious step outside Sweden and entered the Slovenian Rally Championship in a Ford Fiesta Rally4. The programme was designed to accelerate his development, introducing him to faster machinery, self-written pace notes and competitive international rallying on asphalt.
The speed was there from the beginning. Mille claimed a stage win already on his first event and continued to progress throughout the season, leading rallies and recording a total of ten stage victories.
In 2023, Mille and co-driver Johan Grönvall stepped onto the European stage for their first season in the FIA Junior European Rally Championship. Competing in Rally4 machinery, they claimed several stage victories and finished eighth in the championship.
It proved to be the foundation for a breakthrough season.
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS
Returning to Junior ERC in 2024, Mille and Johan competed with IKsport in an Opel Corsa Rally4. This time, they arrived with one clear objective: to fight for the championship.
They delivered.
At the end of the season, Mille and Johan were crowned FIA Junior ERC and ERC4 Champions, securing their first major international titles and confirming their place among Europe’s leading young rally crews.
The same year also brought their FIA World Rally Championship debut. At Rally Sweden, Mille made an immediate impact by winning the Junior WRC category on his very first WRC appearance, aged just 18.
JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONS
In 2025, the focus shifted to the FIA Junior World Rally Championship.
Building on their success in Europe, Mille and Johan took on some of the world’s best young rally drivers across a demanding international season. The championship went all the way to the final day of the final round, where they emerged victorious to become the 2025 FIA Junior WRC Champions.
Alongside their Junior WRC campaign, they continued gaining experience in Rally2 machinery, competing in the FIA European Rally Championship and taking another important step towards the highest level of the sport.
Winning the Junior WRC title also earned Mille a programme with M-Sport Ford for the following season.
STEPPING UP TO WRC2
In 2026, Mille and Johan made the step into WRC2, beginning their first full season competing in Rally2 machinery at World Championship level.
Across seven WRC2 starts, they steadily closed the gap to the established frontrunners. Their debut season included a first WRC2 stage victory at Rally Islas Canarias, sixth place at Rally Portugal, a season-best fifth place at Rally Estonia and sixth place at Rally Finland.
Finland provided another indication of their progress. Mille and Johan recorded eight top-five stage times during the rally, including three top-three times and second-fastest time on SS17, as they climbed from 11th to sixth overall in WRC2.
Four of their WRC2 events were completed with M-Sport Ford as part of the prize for winning the 2025 Junior WRC Championship, while Mille and Johan also competed with MS Munaretto in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
By the end of their debut season, the progression from Junior WRC to competing at the front of WRC2 was already well underway.
THE GOAL
Every step of Mille’s career has been taken with the same long-term objective: to compete at the very top of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Speed is only one part of that journey. Mille approaches his career with a strong focus on analysing his performances, learning from every rally and continuously improving as a driver. His professional approach and determination have also been recognised by people with extensive experience at the highest level of the sport. Former Junior WRC and WRC2 champion Pontus Tidemand has highlighted Mille’s talent, professionalism and commitment, while former Hyundai team manager Alain Penasse has pointed to his speed, determination and mental strength.
From youth rallying in Sweden to European Champion, Junior World Champion and now a WRC2 frontrunner, the direction has remained the same.
The next chapter starts in 2027.
